My group will be making our music video for Last Christmas by Wham which would fall into the Christmas pop song.
-Since most of the Christmas songs are to some extent love songs, two shots are very common to show both of the love interests of the video interacting with each other.
-Close Ups are the most dominant camera work for these type of music videos. But occasionally they have panning camera movements to capture the entire Christmas setting around the actors.
-In each of the music videos I watched in this genre, they used fast cut montages to tell a much longer story in only a 2-3 minute video. The tempo of the song is what drives the pace of the editing so since the subsection of our genre is Christmas Pop, these faster paced editing will be what is most often used.
-The settings of the videos almost always take place during the winter time in a place with plentiful Christmas lights and other common Christmas decorations. Its also common for it to be snowing in the scenes that take place outdoors.
-Because of the winter setting the costume choices are usually cold weather clothes, including jackets, pants, boots, mittens and ear muffs, for the outside scenes and typical Christmas apparel like Christmas themed sweaters for the indoor scenes.
-As said earlier, the Christmas songs are most often love songs. So having at least two actors, one to be the main singer and the other to be their love interest is a necessity.
